Each commission begins with conversation and collaboration to understand not only likeness, but also the feeling and presence a client hopes the portrait will carry over time. Whenever possible, I prefer to work from original photography and reference material created specifically for the painting.

I am also open to discussing select reproduction projects involving public domain works intended for private display.

I typically accept only one or two portrait commissions per year in order to give each piece the time and attention it deserves. I especially enjoy working on large-scale paintings intended to become lasting family heirlooms or significant focal works within a home or collection.
